Don Bachman Memorial Baseball Tournament Rules

For 10U and 12U

(LITTLE LEAGUE RULES will be used with the following EXCEPTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS)

 

1. All bats are subject to inspection by umpires and the tournament director. Big barrel bats (2 5/8 inch) with a visible USA certification/marking are allowed.

MUST be stamped USA. NO USSSA BATS OR “PRE-USA” BATS PERMITTED

Any player using an illegal bat will be called out.

 

2. A 10-run rule is in effect after 4 at bats if you are behind. This applies to both round robin and bracket games.

 

3. Coaches must turn in a completed roster prior to the first game. All players must be listed on the roster. Coaches must have PROOF of BIRTH CERTIFICATES. If no proof given, the player may be suspended for the remainder of the tournament.

 

4. Cut off for birthdates is May 1st. Each team will be allowed ONE March 1st exception.

 

5. Only 1 player is allowed out of the dugout. This will be the on deck batter and they must be wearing a helmet. The on deck batter should warm up at the end of their own dugout farthest from home plate.

 

6. A player may steal a base AFTER the ball crosses home plate. If the player steals a base by leaving a base too soon, he will be returned to his original base.

 

7. In ROUND ROBIN play, a pitcher is allowed to pitch no more than 3 innings (9 outs) per game. During BRACKET play, a pitcher is allowed to pitch no more than 6 outs  per game.

 

8. 10U will field 10 players and be allowed to roster bat.

 

9. 12U will field 9 players and be allowed to roster bat.

 

10. Games will start 15 minutes and the previous game has ended. Games may start early, so please have your team ready at least 30 minutes before game time.

 

11. There is no requirement that players slide on close plays at any location except home plate. However, baserunners MUST avoid contact with fielders at all times when fielders are attempting to make a play or they can be called out. Sliding is recommended. NO HEAD FIRST SLIDES ARE PERMITTED (unless returning to a base). 1st offense = warning, 2nd offense = the baserunner is out.

 

12. If there is a play at HOME PLATE, the baserunner is required to slide.

 

13. A batter may NOT advance on an uncaught 3rd strike.

 

14. For 12U, the pitching distance will be 50 feet and the bases will be 70 feet. For 10U, the pitching distance will be 46 feet and the bases will be 60 feet.

 

15. There will be 1 umpire per game.

 

16. No warm ups on the field prior to the game.

 

17. No leading off bases. 1st offense = warning. 2nd offense = dead ball out.

 

18. During ROUND ROBIN play, no inning will begin later than 1 hour and 30 minutes following the first pitch. There is no time limit during BRACKET play. Games that are tied after the time limit has expired will play the “California Tie Breaker”. The last out made in the previous inning will be placed on 2nd base. There will be 1 out and each batter will start with a 1-1 count. This will continue until a winner is determined.

 

19. A coin toss will determine the HOME team during ROUND ROBIN play. During BRACKET play, the higher seeded team will be the HOME team. The home team is the official scorekeeper. Coaches are encouraged to verify the score after each half inning. 

 

20. To speed up play and provide rest to players, a team MAY use a courtesy runner for the pitcher and catcher. The courtesy runner will be the player who made the previous out.

 

21. Any player who hits a home run over the fence will be awarded the game ball.

 

22, Good sportsmanship is a must! We will not tolerate throwing of bats, helmets, or gloves. Players are not to talk back to umpires, coaches, or fans in any way.

 

23. Smiley Park and Jubilee Park have a concession stand that has a variety of food and drinks for your convenience.

 

24. This tournament is for the kids. Let’s play fair, stay safe, and have fun!

 

25. Umpire decisions are FINAL! No protesting allowed.

 

26. The first team listed on the schedule or on top of the bracket has the first base dugout.

 

27. Each Team will provide a little league approved game ball for each game they play!!!

 

 

28. Coach is allowed one visit to the mound per pitcher, on the second visit you must pull the pitcher.

 

29.   POOL PLAY TIE BREAKER

          1. HEAD TO HEAD

          2. FEWEST RUNS ALLOWED

          3. MOST RUNS SCORED

          4. COIN FLIP
